SINGAPORE GUJARATI SCHOOL LIMITED – RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. School Uniform:
  • A Gujarati School student must always wear his/her T-Shirt uniform with pride.
  • Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed.
  • The school sells the T-Shirts and can be purchased during the Saturday classes.
  • All pupils are to wear the School T-shirt and Black or Blue pants (Faded or patched are not acceptable. Pupils are to wear shoes; slippers are not acceptable.

 

  1. Attendance:
  • Students are expected to be present every Saturday, if not present they will be marked as absent unless the following is furnished:
  1. Medical Certificate
  2. Letter from Parent
  3. Letter from English School

 

  1. General Discipline:
  • All students must be in school by 8.15 a.m.
  • No student is allowed to leave the classroom without the teacher’s permission.
  • No student is to leave the school premises during recess without permission.
  • No eating and drinking is allowed outside the canteen.
  • Students must help to keep the school clean by not littering.
  • Students must move around the school in a quiet and orderly manner.

The following type of behaviour will not be tolerated and be considered a serious offence:

  • Open defiance and rudeness (in behaviour and speech) e.g. refusing to follow instructions and speaking in a defiant manner to a staff member.
  • Vandalism e.g. deliberately damaging or misuse of school or another’s property.
  • Fighting, Extortion and theft
  • Harassment and bullying (physical/emotional/cyber)
  • Possession/throwing of dangerous objects.
  • Abuse of technology, Offensive language and/behaviour
  • Cheating, Truancy
  • Other related serious offenses

 

Misbehavior will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. For serious offences, disciplinary actions will include, but are not restricted to, suspension and/or other actions deemed appropriate by the school for recalcitrant offenders. Where necessary, the assistance of students’ parents/guardians will be sought to obtain home support for remedial actions.

 

 

  1. Use of Handphone:
  • Students must bear the full responsibility of taking care of their handphones.
  • Use of handphones is strictly prohibited during curriculum time,
  • Handphones can only be used during recess and after official school hours to call parents or guardians.
  • No games or listening to music is allowed in the school premises
  • Handphones will be confiscated and parents/guardians will be required to report to school to retrieve the said item if students do not abide by the above regulations.

 

  1. Possession of Weapons:
  • Students are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like items which may be used or be intended to be used to cause harm to others.

 

  1. Expected conducted in class:
  • When a teacher enters the classroom, all students should stand and greet the teacher.
  • No food or flavoured drinks to be consumed in the classroom.
  • No student is allowed in the classrooms during recess without the presence of a teacher.
  • Students must seek permission from teachers when they want to go to the toilet.
  • At the end of the day, chairs must be pushed in, and tables are to be arranged in an orderly manner. All litter should be cleared from the tables and floors.

 

  1. Homework Policy:

In order to benefit fully from the value of homework, student should:

  • Make sure that they understand what needs to be done for all the given homework assignments.
  • Seek help from teachers in a timely manner if they face any difficulty.
  • Organise their textbooks, workbooks, worksheets and files systematically.
  • Hand in homework promptly.

 

  1. Partnership with Parents:
  • The school believes in the value of homework to help students consolidate their knowledge and skills and cultivate lifelong habits of independent and self-directed learning. We seek the understanding, support and collaboration of parents as our partners in education to ensure that homework enriches the student and helps to prepare them for examination.
